Mellow Hostel Barcelona

The view and price are amazing :) It’s a good hostel for the price, with acceptable facilities, good beds, and decent cleanliness. Check-in is available 24 hours. The only showers are on the first floor.

The beds are private pods, with curtains, shelves, charging points, and lights, and all the rooms have AC. The showers are only on the bottom floor, and the kitchen feels very "student flat". For the price, it’s a great stay. A friend and I came for Primavera, and this is actually a nice hostel. It’s a bit run down, with burn marks on beds and some broken storage, but generally pretty clean and well serviced. The receptionist was lovely. He upgraded us from a mixed room to a 6-bed female-only room and even placed us with other festival-goers.

The room and bed were okay, but the check-in was slow, the rules felt rigid or unclear, and cleanliness and bathroom conditions seriously lowered the quality of my stay. I was at Mellow Barcelona from February 6 to February 8th 2026. Arriving around 10:00 p.m., I was the only guest at reception, yet check-in took about 20 minutes. At around 10:30 p.m. the next night, I was alone and already registered, but wasn’t allowed to sit in the common area by reception with my backpack and jacket. I was told to take everything to my room first and then come back, which felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. The curtain beside the bed was dirty, as were the shelf and extra holder nearby. The bathroom was in particularly poor shape, outdated, with visible mould in several places, and some toilets weren’t working.

It’s the cheapest you can get in Barcelona, felt safe, and was pretty clean. I was satisfied overall. Don’t expect to make loads of friends here, though. Go enjoy the city instead, and don’t listen to the bad reviews, this was a great place to stay.
