Apartamentos Barreiros 3000

Elena was the one bright spot. She was kind and attentive, gave us information before we had to ask, and tried to sort out any problem. Thank you to her. We stayed at the Foz Apartments for a week, from September 29th to October 5th. Last year we found plenty to like, since the apartment was close to the beach and the port and town. Apparently the Barreiros apartments have had improvements, but we also spent a week in Foz this year and were given a different apartment. It was still terrible. We’ve stayed in two different Foz apartments over two years, and each was as described here or worse, so telling them at the start won’t solve it. The beds were disgraceful, uncomfortable and impossible to sleep on. The pillows were better left unused. The sofa was poor quality and dirty, and the sheets and bedspreads were dirty too. Both bathrooms leaked when we showered; in one, a kitchen towel was propping up the curtain rod. The pans stuck, the pots had loose handles, and I’d rather not comment on the inside of the oven. The walls in the two-bedroom apartment were dirty and quite disgusting. Both radiators had temperature knobs falling off, and one didn’t work at all. There were no bedside lights, just a couple of ceiling lamps, so reading meant having the whole room lit up for the other person too. It’s disgraceful to hand over apartments in that condition. People pay to enjoy a holiday, not to keep calling about things that are wrong, and certainly not to have things changed after they’ve settled in. I saw a reply saying guests should report the apartment’s condition. Why? So they can change or clean it? This complaint will also be recorded with the OCU (Spanish Consumer Protection Agency). The fewer people this happens to, the better. It’s a shame, because these reviews wouldn’t be necessary if they looked after the place better.
