Casa do Cura

Ana, who welcomes you when you arrive, is lovely and really helps make the stay a good one. The nearby trails are great for walks, and the silence makes this a wonderful place to get away from everything. I’ve already stayed twice. Just keep in mind that supermarkets and restaurants are far away, so bring your own food. My one complaint is the sofas in the houses. They’re awful and still look hideous no matter how many covers you put on them.

The restaurant-bar near the house, about 100 meters away, is newly established and I think it’s called El Descanso. It’s only been open for a year, and has unbeatable quality, incredible reservoir views, and lovely owners, Ana and her husband. Inland Galicia and its people are wonderful. This was my third time enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The first two stays were incredible for the house, service, attention to detail, and cleanliness. This time, though, I was very disappointed. The house needs a thorough overhaul for the wear and tear that hasn’t been addressed, and the kitchen and utensils were greasy and unclean. Cleanliness overall left a lot to be desired. I also really missed the personal attention and friendliness that had always been there before. This used to be my yearly getaway, but it may not be anymore. I hope they return to the service, care, and professionalism they once had.

Ana and Mario were wonderful and made our eight days at Casa do Cura even better. Our five-year-old daughter loved it there and spent lots of time playing with Cen, the little dog who was a hit with everyone. The houses were comfortable and very clean, and the surroundings are beautiful for exploring inland Galicia. We’d definitely return.

The views of the reservoir were spectacular, and the location was great. The lady who welcomed us was super friendly, and my dog was happy there. A few things could be better, though: I missed having a toaster and had to use a frying pan for the bread, which left it a bit damaged. There wasn’t enough room to cook and wash dishes, and the sofa was somewhat uncomfortable. Most of the rest was great.
