The owner downstairs was friendly and made me a good, incredibly cheap dinner later on, and I also got a bocadillo at the bar. After hiking the GR7 from Chelva for a short day, I stayed a night in Benageber. We’d arranged things over WhatsApp, and on arrival a woman gave me the key and took payment. The apartment was spacious and had everything I needed. The public pool next door was a refreshing bonus. I’d recommend walking up to the beautiful Mirador north of the village, especially near sunset.

There was enough room for our group to eat lunch in the apartment, all seven of us, and it was lovely. The place itself is new, quiet, well heated, and great. Three of us slept there thanks to the sofa bed in the living room. Nearby, there’s a wood-fired grill with lots of space, so my friends and I had a barbecue while other people made paella. The woman who runs the apartment was very attentive, and the villagers were friendly too.

We got a slice of potato omelet and a sandwich with potato omelet and garlic aioli. Simple, typical stuff, and delicious. The service was quick, and the place had a friendly feel.

The pig's ear at the bar beneath the apartments is a real treat. The apartment was big, lovely, and very clean.
