Hotel Cortijo Las Grullas

The host didn't smile much, but took good care of us. Breakfast was huge, and the beer was good and fairly priced. It's a traditional Spanish courtyard place, with the rooms upstairs. Our room was simple, clean, and cool. The main road gets busy during the day, then settles down at night. There's not much to see or do in Bentley, so a car would be useful. I'd stay again and recommend it.

Juan has a wonderfully distinctive manner, like the original hipster waiter that staff in Hackney might unconsciously take after. We came for Sunday lunch and shared a huge salad with tuna, followed by a very generous solomillo. I ordered it al punto, though it arrived beautifully rare, tender, full of flavour, and cooked just right for me. It would count as blue by UK standards, which is how I like it. The meal was very reasonably priced and well worth a visit. A few menu phrases that may help: ensalada is salad, sin atun means without tuna, and solomillo is steak. En su punto is medium rare, poco hecho is rare, and muy hecho is well done. Incinerado is the British version of well done. Red wine is generally served chilled. The salad is big enough to share or have as a generous main, and salads are usually shared.

Go there for a bite and a drink. You'll be happy.
