Hotel La Neu

The modern mountain style, fair prices, and free breakfast were all great. My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay, with friendly staff and clean rooms and common areas that felt COVID safe. We’ll definitely stay here again next time we’re in Benasque.

The hotel itself is nice, clean, and in a quiet part of the Benasque Valley. Three of the four women on staff were kind and supportive when my boyfriend was ill, helping arrange breakfast in our room and bringing towels. But the way the fourth staff member treated me made the stay so unpleasant that I left a day early. One day I brought lunch from outside because it was easier for my boyfriend to eat at the hotel. We sat in the breakfast area. I couldn’t see any staff there, so I went into the kitchen to get a plate, as there was no sign saying not to enter. A staff member came over and explained that the hotel could only serve breakfast. She was understanding when I explained I hadn’t known we couldn’t eat outside food there, and that my boyfriend was unwell. She gave me a plate. After lunch, I put the plate in the kitchen to help leave the table clean. Then an older staff member came in and told me I wasn’t allowed in the kitchen. I apologized and explained what had happened in Spanish, which isn’t my first language. She said she didn’t know what country I came from, but that I had no manners and had invaded private property. She also said she’d seen me take breakfast leftovers upstairs, meaning the cake and orange juice I hadn’t eaten and had brought to my boyfriend. I apologized many times, but she kept making rude comments, and I felt very uncomfortable. I’ve traveled internationally for many years and stayed in hotels and B&Bs across America and Europe, and I’ve never been treated like this. Usually, if staff aren’t available and something happens that the place doesn’t like, people explain it with understanding and politeness. That wasn’t my experience with this particular staff member at hotel La Neu.

I stayed at this hotel for 10 days. My sincere gratitude to Alicia for her exceptional service and dedication. She’s a real asset to your establishment and shows the qualities that make [Hotel La Neu] an outstanding place for travelers.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the shower was superb. Staff were polite and helpful, and the location was good. Breakfast was very good too, including the picnic breakfast, which kept us going on a 14-hour hike. I’d definitely stay again!
