Hotel Santiago

The next day went much better: the room was cleaned very well, breakfast was excellent, and the receptionist with curly hair and glasses was incredibly kind. She even made us fresh juice. The hotel itself wasn't bad, but we wanted more helpful customer service. Our first impression was poor because the receptionist was rude. We’d booked and paid extra for a room with a bathtub, and told them we were bringing our two-month-old baby. The crib was fine and came with sheets and blankets, and they’d left towels for the baby. But when we arrived, the tub was broken and we were told not to fill it, just to shower. I asked to move to another room with a tub, but the receptionist said she couldn't. I was upset because we needed to bathe the baby and had made the request clear when booking. I asked why no one had called to let us know so we could bring a portable tub, but she didn't answer, apologize, offer a solution, or refund.

We left extremely satisfied after paying the standard €63, and would definitely recommend staying in beautiful Benavente. We arrived around 8 pm and the evening receptionist took great care of us, finding secure storage for our bikes in the basement. For us, a place that stores bikes safely earns five stars. We stayed just one night and left early, so we didn't try breakfast because there weren't vegan options. The room was clean and tidy, with the amenities we needed: non-wasteful soap dispensers, a small fridge, fluffy towels, and wall sockets for charging. The bed was comfortable, though I'd personally replace the long pillow with two separate ones. The windows looked out over town and had double glazing and blinds, which helped with a good night's sleep. The staff were nice and everything was in order.

We arrived late with no reservation while on a cycling tour, and the receptionist really looked after us. She was absolutely first class, as were the hotel and its location. Gracias.

One of the region's best hotels, in my opinion. I highly recommend it.
