The pool area is lovely, the bar staff are great, and there’s entertainment every night. But the food has been really poor on our last two visits. We got pale chips twice that were still hard inside and undercooked, and other people mentioned the food too. Hopefully it’ll be sorted by our next visit.

We had a great time last year without any problems, but this year it’s been one issue after another. The service we’ve had at Villamar has left me really disappointed. Most of the people we spoke to were unhelpful and rude, though Jane and Rafa were great. Rafa was especially lovely and helpful, and I don’t want this to reflect badly on them. Niall’s grandad didn’t check out. I understand that wasn’t your fault, but if we’d been told straight away we could have explained that he’d forgotten, and it could have been sorted. Instead, we paid €108 for the stay, with €40 due back at checkout. Today, when we came to check out and get the wristband refund, we were told we’d checked out yesterday and couldn’t get it. I’d mentioned to Rafa that we might return the bands the night before, but I had extended our stay until Tuesday because that’s when our bus to Valencia is booked. We’ve paid €108 for something that should have been free. I’d really appreciate getting at least the €40 back. It feels very unfair. I hope to hear from you so we can resolve this.

I stayed and lived part-time at Villamar years ago and was looking forward to returning for a four-night chalet holiday in August 2025. I’d told my group what a wonderful place it was. Instead, the way things were handled left a bad taste, despite the campsite grounds still being nicely kept and peaceful, with the lovely community feeling among residents. Check-in was slow. The staff member was polite, but told us our 13-year-old counted as an adult and cost more. The website didn’t disclose that, and I’d never run into it before. It wasn’t mentioned at a hotel we stayed at during the same trip either. Travellers with teenagers should know, as it felt like a way to push up the price. We were also asked for a €110 deposit for wristbands that seemed pointless, and when I asked about access to the side gate, I got a firm no, residents only. That felt ridiculous and inflexible. Our chalet was at the top of the campsite beside the cut-through into town, but they expected us to walk 18 minutes, timed, down past reception and around. In nearly 40-degree heat, members of our party were soaked with sweat. If you have small children, are elderly, or have mobility issues, I wouldn’t bother. There was no flexibility or apparent interest in making customers happy. The next issue was the pool. A man guarding the entrance told us we couldn’t use it without buying wristbands from reception. I was shocked, given that the four-night stay had already cost £500 before any extras. It’s outrageous to charge visitors more for the pool. We could have stayed at a four- or five-star hotel for the same price. At the shop, we noticed a 25-cent charge added to every drink from the fridge, after buying eight or nine drinks on separate visits. It wasn’t displayed on the fridges, another example of what felt like management greed. The facilities were okay, nothing special. The bed was comfortable, but kitchen utensils were inadequate. There was only half a toilet roll, no handwash, and a tiny bottle of washing-up liquid in the kitchen, as if you were meant to buy all of it in the shop. The rest of the chalet had poor-quality, uncomfortable furniture. Wi-Fi was good, and the TV mostly had Spanish channels. On the last night we saw cockroaches flying in and out of a gap near the sliding door. They obviously live between the walls, which would be a deal-breaker for some. For me, the penny-pinching, extra charges, and inflexibility turned what could have been a lovely stay into a bad one. The value for money is poor. We had to scan in and out near reception to get a gate buzzed open, which felt a little like Big Brother was watching. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for a holiday. It’s not what it used to be.

Beautiful pools, lovely surroundings, and very clean throughout. Five stars overall.

I came back this year with a companion just to spend a few hours saying hello to the children, many of whom had been excited to see me. I’d worked at this campsite last summer and put a lot into the job, so I was surprised when they wouldn’t let me in, even after I offered to pay for a day pass. They spoke to me disrespectfully and unpleasantly, even after I explained I only wanted to visit for a little while. I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just the same paid entry as any visitor. I felt humiliated and very disappointed by how little respect they showed someone who had once been part of their team and returned with good intentions. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values decent, humane treatment.
