Hotel Cuco

The restaurant had a great range of food, and the staff there were lovely. The hotel is a hidden gem in Benidorm's crown, in the Old Town and a short walk from the beach. The staff are fantastic, polite, cheerful and helpful. The rooms were lovely, but I'd suggest paying for an upgrade if you can. The inside courtyard rooms are smaller, while the balcony rooms are much bigger and have everything you need, including a kettle.

We were only a 10-minute walk from the beach, but we wouldn't return after the problems we had. The food was poor, entertainment was aimed at Spanish guests, and the bar was constantly short-staffed. We kept waiting for drinks, even soft drinks, and each time it took 15 minutes until the next one. Christmas was a joke: you had to bring your own present for Santa to give your children. The rooftop pools were tiny, more like baths. You could hear absolutely everything in the rooms. Police were called after drunken guests kept us awake all night, but we were told to move rooms instead of the guests causing the problem. Despite being all-inclusive, we ate out for every lunch and dinner. We paid £40 for late checkout and all-inclusive on the last day, but it covered drinks and bar snacks made from leftover breakfast items. Don't bother, it was a waste of money. The best staff were Laura and Alfonso in the bar and waiting team.

The pool on the roof was disgusting, with dead insects in the water and a bad smell. There were no clear signs showing where or when snacks were available, and during our four days there we never had or saw any. The food was freezing cold whenever we came for a meal. Restaurant staff began clearing the buffet at 7:40 pm and told everyone they had 15 minutes left to eat. The staff were unhelpful, and the cold food was disgusting. It was nowhere near a four-star hotel. As a group of 15, not one of us had a decent dinner during the stay. Biggest waste of money, and that's an understatement. Would not recommend.

The all-inclusive deal was simply not worth it, and I'd strongly recommend against choosing it. The bar staff struggled to make even basic drinks properly, which was frustrating. Food was poor, with little variety or quality, and the rooms were much smaller than I expected for the price. Staff were quite rude and unhelpful throughout our visit. I was really disappointed by the stay and will never return.
