Pensión La Orozca

The room was very clean, but the noise made it hard to enjoy staying here. I could clearly hear traffic outside, other guests talking, and TVs through the very thin walls. There was no kettle, iron, air-con, or blackout curtain. I stayed here, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The public car park right across from the hotel is convenient if you need to leave your car for 24 hours, though it costs a bit and is about the only parking around. Driving to the hotel can be confusing: it's on a main one-way street, and the road entrance is marked for authorised vehicles only. The accommodation is basic but clean, right in Benidorm's old town. The rooms are an okay size, and the staff were polite and helpful.

We got in later than planned, but check-in went smoothly and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The old town location worked well, with the beach a short walk away and the main nightlife area easy enough to walk to. Great value for what we paid.

The location is the big draw, close to old town cafes and bars, with Chinese and Japanese restaurants downstairs. It's a very budget hotel, but the services covered what I needed, and reception was always staffed. There was only one staff member on duty, so when I asked questions they sometimes seemed distracted. Maybe they were busy or it was a language issue because of my heavy accent. I imagine people have to cover several jobs in a large hotel at this price. I slept really well through the holiday with earplugs and an eye mask. On my last night, a Monday, I had an early transfer and skipped them, so I could hear everything, doors slamming and people using the bathroom. Light sleepers should bear that in mind. You have to leave your key at reception and ask for it using your room number when you return. That didn't bother me by itself, but they didn't check the guest's details, so it seemed anyone could ask for my room key. They also charge for the safe, which felt disappointing given that key arrangement. Price and location are the main benefits.
