Hotel Rambla Benidorm

Leo at reception sets a great example of how guests should be welcomed. The hotel is dated but clean, with a comfortable king-size bed and a decent-sized room. We had a balcony at the front, in room 205. Don't let the reviews put you off. We'd definitely stay again.

The beach view from the balcony was perfect, and the room was one of the best I've had. Its air conditioning kept it really cold through a hot spell. The pool was lovely, and the food was unreal. The whole place had an electric atmosphere. Best hotel I've ever stayed in.

We were close to cancelling after reading the reviews, but I'm so glad we didn't. The location is great, the staff are helpful, and the rooms were quiet, so we slept really well. It's cheap and cheerful, and for the price you can't grumble. Some people like to moan, so I wanted to share a more positive take from my experience. The staff were all helpful, and the hotel wasn't as bad as some reviews made it sound. It's about a five-minute walk to the beach, and the rooms, while basic, were clean. Cleaners came most days. The air conditioning is timed and controlled, only on from around 5 PM to 8 AM, and there are no fridges. We were a group of 17 on full board and ate in the restaurant on the first evening, arriving as it opened. The food was buffet style and the worst hotel food I've ever had. Breakfast was just as bad. We ate out for the rest of the stay. It's a shame, as they must waste so much food that it probably costs them as much as serving decent meals. After reading the reviews, I expected to arrive at a hotel from The Inbetweeners. In the end, it's a three-star place, though some things, especially the food, are far below one star. It needs renovation in most areas. The pool is there and functional.
