Hotel RH Victoria & Spa Benidorm By Hoteles RH

We’ve just got back from 14 nights here. The staff were lovely and helpful, and Alain by the pool, who did the animation and hosted the evening shows, kept everyone laughing with his humour. The pool area was nice, and drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel. It’s an easy 2-minute walk to the old town and 5 minutes to the sandy beach. There wasn’t a huge food selection, but we always found something we liked. Martin & Gillian (aka Steve and Tina 😀 )

The lobby bar was a relaxing spot for a nightcap, and the staff there were friendly and chatty. We didn’t stay for the evening entertainment, so I can’t comment on that. The pool looked nice, though we didn’t use it in October as it was in shade for parts of the day. Breakfast was included and had a good range, from hot food and omelettes to fruit, meats, cereal and savoury options. Drinks were self-service. Our room was spacious and airy, with a lovely sea view over town, plenty of wardrobe space, a free safe, tea and coffee, and water in the fridge. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower, bidet, toilet, double sinks, toiletries and a hairdryer. We stayed over October half term. The hotel is well placed at the edge of the Old Town, near shops, restaurants and bars, and about a five-minute walk from the beach. Everyone was welcoming, clean and helpful. We arrived four hours before check-in, but our room was already ready, so there was no waiting around. I’d worried about being opposite the lifts, but once the door was shut we heard no noise. The room stayed very clean throughout. I’d happily come back when I’m in the area.

The room was good, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were happy to help. But the food was shockingly bad. The Yorkshire puddings were rock hard, the paella had no flavour, and the fish was mushy and frozen. I wouldn’t eat here again.

The live acts in the main bar were fantastic, and the poolside entertainment was really good too. Service stood out, especially in the bars and restaurant. Breakfast and dinner had a very good selection, with fresh salad and nicely cooked meats, though it could feel a bit repetitive at times, as is common with this kind of hotel. We had a seven-night half-board stay. The location is ideal, just a couple of minutes from the beach and restaurants, and for the price I’d highly recommend it. Our room was clean, nice and fairly spacious, but the yellow and blue bathroom decor let it down a little. There was also quite a lot of sand on the floor when we arrived, left by the previous guests. One night we had trouble booking a taxi. We’d been told it wouldn’t be an issue, then found none were available, and the receptionist didn’t do much to suggest another option. Even so, I’d stay again and would recommend it to families.
