The breakfast was a real highlight, free and genuinely all-you-can-eat, with loads to choose from: fresh fruit, a wide range of meats and breads, and coffee they kindly offered to make for us. The room had a beautiful view, good air conditioning, and a very comfortable bed. Everything at El Tossal ran smoothly. The couple looked after us so thoughtfully and answered questions before I even had to ask. They were polite, generous, and kind. I’ve stayed in five-star hotels around the world, and this was better than any of their breakfasts. We hope to see them again. 10/10 for the experience, service, and hosts.

The owner gave us loads of useful information about the area and things to see and do. The room was really comfy, and breakfast had a good range of choices. It’s a lovely bed and breakfast in a great spot in Guadalest. I’d definitely recommend it.

The pueblo is worth a day trip, but staying overnight wasn’t a good fit for us. Be prepared to bring your own food and drink, especially if you like to watch TV. We’d expected to have dinner there, but the restaurant was closed, as were all the others in town. We were told we’d have to drive to the next town even to buy bread and wine. I was surprised they didn’t offer to sell us those basics, which would have felt hospitable. We arrived to a locked door, and after we knocked for a while the owner answered looking angry and surly, as if dealing with guests was a bother. His wife tried to make up for it, but this was the first time in Spain I didn’t feel welcome. On the plus side, the spot is lovely, the rooms are nice, and the bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was good, with homemade tortilla Español, though the coffee was only so-so. The TV was large and connected to the web.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and there was a good choice at breakfast. Our room was large, bright, airy, and very clean. It’s only a two-minute stroll to the centre. We’ll definitely come back.
