Casa Princess Arminda

We came for a couple of nights because we wanted somewhere cheaper than a typical resort. It’s out of the way and not especially well placed, but the quiet, peaceful setting made up for that. The rooms are very cozy, the facilities decent, and the whole place has a relaxed, local feel. The food could be better, though. The owner was great, and the staff were just as nice. The owner even took our food and drinks off the bill, something we’ll always appreciate. Treat them like friends and they’ll treat you the same. I’d recommend it if you have a car and want a quiet place to retreat to.

Such a shame, because the patio looked like it would be a lovely, quiet place to sit. Instead, we got some of the rudest service I’ve ever had in Fuerte. The waitress seemed to be having a really bad day. We ordered food and wine, but all three wine glasses were filthy, with greasy smears and bits of dirt left from the dishwasher. Disgusting. The wine itself was horrible too, so I guess that fit. Thank Chuck, one of our dishes was unavailable, which gave us a good excuse to cancel the order and leave. Definitely the best decision of the day.

I couldn’t get a room because they were fully booked, but we did have lunch, and I’m looking forward to coming back. This is one of my favourite places. Mum was a little wary because her last meal here had been dry and disappointing for both her and her friend. This time she chose a juicy piece of chicken and was really happy with it. I had a yummy Spanish omelette and salad. One thing I’d like to see is an allergen list on the menu, even a shortened one, so people can avoid foods linked to an intolerance or allergy.

The setting is really pretty, so I suppose it’d be fine to stop for a drink. The food, though, was terrible. The papas with mojo were just about tolerable, but the mixed platter was awful, with cheese and chorizo and ham that were very poor quality. The ham was especially embarrassing. I couldn’t believe they served it to people and charged 8 euros. After food that bad, they should have paid us. It left us traumatized.
