Masia Can Viver - Olive oil tourism B&B

The family’s home cooked meal, made with their own oil, was good enough for a restaurant. Before that, they spent 6-7 hours with us among their olive trees, explaining green harvesting and pressing, sharing family history going back to the 1100’s, and leading blind smell tests of olive oil notes like tomato leaf, fennel, and fig leaf. We also blind tested several oils to pick out their characteristics, from mature to green. It’s an award winning family producer about an hour’s drive from Barcelona, and the whole team is just mom, dad, and son. My husband and I came to Spain for two weeks, and this was a real standout: a unique, authentic experience that gave us a better understanding of how people live and have lived, along with new knowledge and plenty of enjoyment. Experiences like that can be hard to find. If you’re anywhere within a 1.5-2 hour drive, go.

Jose knows a lot about quality olive oil and is clearly passionate about it. We learned about the production process and the history of the place on a great tour. Rosa’s food was delicious and beautifully presented, and she was so helpful arranging our journey there. They’re both sweethearts. My mom, sister, and I had a lovely time. Warmly recommend it, and thanks again for everything!

We took a guided tour, and Jose and Rosa showed us around the farm, explaining in great detail how they produce the oil. It’s a lovely place, and their olive oil is the best. We enjoyed all the details, especially tasting the high quality oil.

The hosts are so welcoming, and there’s a lovely clean pool. Breakfast was great and really huge, and the bathroom was amazing. It’s easy to find, has a country feel, and offers free parking in Barcelona provinces. You can drive to Barcelona in 38 minutes, and the airport is quick to reach too.
