Pensión Basque Boutique

The staff made the biggest difference. They were kind even in the emails before we arrived, then explained things and shared recommendations that really enhanced our vacation. The rooms were distinctive and clean, and the location was excellent. I highly recommend it, and I’d head straight back here next time I’m in Bilbao. Thanks for everything.

The room was nice, with quirky decor, and the price was reasonable for such a central location. I was impressed by the GHD hair straighteners and Egyptian cotton towels. Unfortunately, our room, No. 4, was beside reception, so we heard people coming into the hotel. The promised complimentary coffee machine was broken during our stay.

The bathroom was modern, the place spotless, and the decor cool. We were in the room closest to reception, so it was a little noisy, but totally fine. A good place to spend a night in the historic downtown. Just so you know, check-in starts after 1pm and checkout is by 11am. They don’t offer early check-in or late checkout.

I’ve never had such a bad hotel experience because of noise. There is no soundproofing, and the only thing between us and the noise was a curtain. Our street-facing room was unbearable, though other guests said they didn’t hear as much. The bars below stayed open until 2:30am. Kids outside one bar were drunk, shouting and singing with a boom box until then. At 4:30am people were fighting and yelling in the street, then the bottle bins were emptied at 5:55am, street cleaners came at 6:30am, and shops started opening at 7:30am. Across both nights, we got about three hours of sleep in total. The hotel knows about the noise and leaves earplugs in the room.
