Optimi Rooms

The hotel and capsules were clean, attractive, and had a nice atmosphere, with lots of shared spaces. But the staff who dealt with us in the morning and at night weren’t very nice. At 11:00hrs they opened the lockers without warning and left our belongings outside. A 15-minute grace period or a heads-up would have been a considerate touch. The toilets looked nice, but they were really dirty. An extra clean in the morning would be better and healthier for guests.

The design is cool and futuristic, and the price and Wi-Fi were good. The location was okay, about a 20-25 minute walk to casco viejo and Guggenheim. Inside, it felt kind of dirty in places, with bad smells around the bathrooms and shared areas. The lockers are all together outside the capsule room, so it can get crowded. Our capsule’s electric panel malfunctioned a few times, and it got hot because we couldn’t feel the air conditioning. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The location is close to plenty of restaurants and right on the Camino way. Our room, number 48, seemed partly broken: the lights came on just as we were falling asleep, which felt like a war crime. We had to take the card out to get any sleep. When I politely told the receptionist, he just said “Perfecto.” I still don’t know what was supposed to be perfect about it, and he didn’t even try to apologize.

There’s a shared kitchen with a microwave, sink and fridge, plus a vending machine if you want to buy something. Bags and other belongings go in lockers, which felt secure. The hostel is a capsule setup, so there aren’t regular rooms, but the capsules are clean, comfortable and nice. You do need to keep noise down. Transport is convenient, with bus, metro and tram nearby, and you can walk around the center of Bilbo too. I’d recommend it for a day or two. For a longer stay, I’d personally rent a room or flat.
