This stay was one of my worst in a long time. When I arrived, basic items like slippers were missing, and the room phone was broken. I was moved to another room and had to carry all my luggage down to reception to get a new key. The new room was missing amenities too. There was a big clump of hair in the shower, an unpleasant smell, and cleanliness was well below an acceptable standard. I also saw black mold in the shower. When I came back that afternoon, the room hadn't been cleaned. I asked a housekeeper in the hallway if they could return in an hour, but it still wasn't done. At reception, I was told no housekeeping staff were available and the manager wasn't there. They said they couldn't do anything, not even change my room. The receptionist said, “We’ve tried contacting the manager but can’t reach them at all. It’s crazy, right?” The real problem was that the hotel seemed to be running without proper management. They offered to replace my towels “in an hour,” but I didn't trust that promise and asked for them right away. I booked the same day because my flight was canceled. As a premium member, I should have been eligible for an upgrade if one was available, and many higher-category rooms appeared to be available, but none was offered. The hotel needs to keep amenities stocked, train staff properly, and have a manager present. It felt like a hotel where you have to handle everything yourself, and service standards had completely broken down.

The room was clean, and housekeeping kept it tidy and fresh throughout my stay. The hotel's overall cleanliness was good and helped make things more comfortable. Still, I found the property dated and in need of updates, especially in its facilities. The gym was disappointing, with very limited equipment that wasn't in good condition. Water leaked onto the bathroom floor every time I used the shower, and the toilet was noisy enough to notice at night. An average stay, with room to improve the maintenance and facilities.

The breakfast was great, with plenty of options, and all the hotel staff were friendly. The beds were very comfortable and large, California King size, something we worried about because other reviews hadn't mentioned bed size. Bilbao was wonderful, and the Radisson collection made it special. The hotel is beautiful and right across from the station, with lots of places within walking distance. If you're lucky, Pablo will greet you. He's a great person and an asset to the hotel, making the welcome feel personal and giving you a sense of Basque hospitality. Thanks to everyone, especially Pablo.

Our New Year's Eve trip ended in a complete disaster. The room's air conditioning was set to cool, and the temperature fell below 17 degrees Celsius. Staff took several hours to sort it out, then arranged a room change at 11:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The replacement room had the opposite problem and was over 25 degrees. The Michelin-rated restaurant was just as disappointing. The food was below par and seemed to have been prepared hours before serving, especially the stale seafood. Service was unprofessional and inadequate for the number of guests. It was also the first New Year's Eve I've spent without music or decorations. The 10% restaurant discount turned out to be another promise that wasn't kept, and hotel management offered no apology or explanation when I checked out.

I asked the hotel administrator to get in touch so we could arrange an appointment. We were trying to use a gift certificate for a massage and spa treatment, but reception didn't answer and sent us over to an empty spa. We still couldn't book anything.
