Hostal Bonavista

There’s no parking for hotel guests, and restaurant customers take those spaces. The beds were very hard, like sleeping on metal springs. It’s cheap at €50 a night in high season, but now I understand why. We stayed two nights with our children. The hotel felt very unfriendly. On the first night, they gave us a room with a broken AC, apparently knowing it was faulty because they’d put in a fan instead. It was extremely hot and none of us slept. We asked to change rooms, and did so for the second night. At 9:30 pm we went to the restaurant and asked for food, but they said the kitchen was closed while other guests were still eating and ordering food. We understood it usually closed at 10 pm. It felt like discrimination.

The showers were awful. There was no hot water, and the showerhead couldn’t be attached to a wall, so we had to hold it. There were also tiger mosquitoes in the neighbourhood. The staff didn’t greet us, and most of them didn’t speak English. Inside, there was a terrible smell, almost as if the restroom were in the middle of the restaurant. I honestly can’t think of anything positive. If you’re thinking of booking this hostel, I’d say don’t. I’d rather sleep on the streets of Blanes than go back. Find somewhere better, even if it costs more.

I only stopped by the bar. The waiters were nice, and everything was fine.
