The staff were friendly, and the place is close to the beach. That’s what earns the one star. The room was filthy, and I don’t think it had been cleaned. I was travelling with a small dog, which went under the bed and brought out a used cotton swab. The mattress was okay and the bed somewhat comfortable, but the frame was narrower than the mattress and sagged at the sides. The springs creaked at the slightest movement. The sheets were very old and made me too hot, and neither the mattress nor pillow had any kind of plastic cover to protect against stains. The fan was powerful but made so much noise that sleeping was impossible. The curtains were so translucent they let in all the light, so I couldn’t rest past 8 a.m. At €60 a night, I expected much better. The price was excessive.

The photos don’t show what the place is really like, and the price feels like a rip-off. The terrace is so dirty you can barely squeeze under the broken curtain. There’s a superb parrot in the bar, but don’t expect cleanliness. Not once in five days was there any cleaning. Given all the dust, I’d avoid using the air conditioning.

The portable air conditioner was very loud, and it had no exhaust vent. The furniture was basic, and the floor and mattress were dirty. The towels also seemed questionable. This hotel felt unsanitary.

The room was roomy and had a TV, fan, and private bathroom, and there’s an elevator. The hostel is only a few minutes from the city center, shops, and beaches. Wi-Fi was the one letdown: over the whole week, I managed to get a connection only once or twice.

It’s in a convenient location, but the room had a strong musty smell. The bathroom was dirty, with a black water stain in the toilet, and there were suspicious stains on the sheets.
