Las Casitas de Braojos

It was a spectacular spot for a weekend, and we’ll definitely be back. They supplied charcoal and firewood for the barbecue and fireplace, plus a little breakfast gift. I just wished there had been napkins. The sheets and towels came sealed after being washed at 60°C because of COVID.

The heating was off when we got there and the house was only 11 degrees Celsius, so it wasn’t warm for our arrival. The only big frying pan was ruined, with its Teflon coating burned by previous guests. When I brought it up, the response was basically, "That's how it is." There were hardly enough utensils, no large serving dish, and we had to use a plate as a cutting board. The cupboards were full of cobwebs, the shower screen was filthy, and the fireplace still had all the previous guest’s remains in it. They did say the sheets had been washed at 60 degrees and packaged because of COVID, but that didn’t make up for everything else. As rural accommodation, it left a lot to be desired. I don’t recommend it at all.

The best part was being able to switch off completely, and they let us check out late. The woman who checked us in was very helpful, especially since the owner wasn’t answering the phone or replying to emails. We stayed the last weekend of February. Things seemed fine until we tried the heating and found it didn’t work. They offered free firewood, but the chimney motor wasn’t working either, and said there were blankets. Cleanliness was practically nonexistent, the barbecue was broken, and the grill still had scraps from the previous guests. For what the place offered, the price was excessive.

It was a perfect weekend. I loved the houses, the town and the people. Oscar from tourism was so friendly, and Eva, who I spoke to when booking the house, was kind as well. Thanks so much to everyone. We’ll be back.
