Apartamentos Centro Cancajos

If you like being woken at 8 AM by awful renovation noise, this is the place for you. The apartments sit in the sun for 12 hours, yet there's no air conditioning or fan, so every room comes with a free sauna. Perfect if you love military camps!

The staff were great and helpful, and would sort anything out for you. But the building and rooms are shabby, and neither the beds nor the sofa were comfortable. Noise carries from other apartments day and night, from people walking around and things being moved. It wasn't music or anything. I won't come back here, or to this island.

The apartments are clean, and which way you look depends on your unit. The center's main opening faces northeast. There are two small supermarkets, plenty of restaurants, car rentals, tourist offices and other services nearby, plus a diving service and e-bike rental in the Centro itself. You're right in the main tourist area on the east coast, with Santa Cruz within walking distance. The beach is about a two-minute walk, clean and well equipped, with showers. Expect some noise: the streets around the center get busy in the morning after 6:30 and again in the late afternoon, and it's easy to hear your neighbors. Air traffic from 8:00 to 22:00 might disturb you, though there aren't many large planes each day.

The reception staff didn't come across as friendly or service-minded, which really put us off. There's also a good chance you'll get a north-facing apartment, with cold living areas and no sun at all on the balcony. Maybe that's why there's not even a table out there. The beds were hard as stones, basic cookware was missing, and the kitchen area had lousy lighting. Soundproofing is poor too, we could hear someone snoring next door at night. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
