Hostal La Vid

A neat, tidy hostel.

I booked this room for my daughter, son-in-law, and four-year-old grandson for August 14th to 17th. I went to see them on August 15th and was furious and deeply disappointed. The room was no bigger than 8 square meters, with a 135 cm double bed and a tiny bathroom with a minuscule sink and shower. If one person was using the toilet, the person in the shower couldn't get out. They had to turn sideways to get past each other. And this hovel cost €80! When I spoke with Javier, who was dealing with me, I asked whether breakfast was at least included. He said it wasn't. A little later he called back and said they could have breakfast at a restaurant 1.5 km away, with that cost deducted from the price. Who wants to travel 1.5 km for breakfast? It's disgraceful. Never again.

We needed somewhere to sleep before continuing our trip, and it did the job. The room had a skylight, so we slept looking at the stars, which was really nice. The place was simple, clean, and practical, with a TV, fridge, hot shower, and air conditioning. It wasn't expensive, but I've stayed in better places for a little less, with breakfast included. La Vid doesn't offer breakfast. The tiny town where it's located is charming.

This old hostel seems poorly maintained. They said they'd turn on the heat, but never did, so thank goodness there were blankets. We waited over half an hour for the room even though we'd told them when we'd arrive. The woman at reception seemed to be napping inside. The staff felt much too relaxed for us to spend the night, and that was it.
