Ángeles had left us a welcome gift, and she was friendly and always ready to help. The house is spacious and welcoming, with a perfect location. The heating runs on a schedule that kept us comfortable throughout the day, and there’s a fireplace with the wood ready for your first fire. Highly recommended.

The house itself was fine, and the owners were helpful, but several things bothered me during our weekend stay. The power went out when we arrived. We first thought it was the storm, but the street and other houses still had electricity, and it turned out there was a wiring problem. The water heater also wouldn’t turn on, so we couldn’t bathe the children because the water was freezing. The problem was fixed once the rain stopped, thanks to my husband figuring it out. We’d also booked an extra bed because there were seven adults, and were charged €30 per night for it. One slat was missing from the bed frame, it broke in the middle of the night, and my nephew had to sleep on the mattress on the floor. They said they’d check it, but still charged us for the bed.

Bubión is a lovely little village, with narrow streets and a good location for visiting the Alpujarra’s main villages. The house itself is fantastic, a restored traditional Alpujarra home. Angeles, the owner, is lovely and very helpful.

The terrace has delightful views over the Poqueira Gorge, and the country house is charming, with a lovely design and beautiful renovation. The service was excellent too. They let us rent it for just one day and stay as long as we wanted on Sunday.
