On our way from Torrevieja to Lièrganes, we stopped in Buitrago. The staff were friendly and helpful, and let us eat our own sandwiches alongside their enormous portion of fries. The fries and two coffees came to less than €7. We'll definitely visit again next year.

We stayed here on the way to Santander because our usual stop wasn't available, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The room and bathroom were both a good size, and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were nice, and check-in was quick and easy. We had a nice view of the water, could park right outside, and found shops and restaurants nearby. I'd book again.

The location made it easy to enjoy the area: the grocery market is next door, and we walked with our two kids to the special Picasso museum and the ancient castle, then went kayaking on the lake. The beautiful Piscina Buitrago, with mountain and river views, a huge park and a playground, was just 5 minutes away. We also drove 13 minutes to Presa de el Villar and hiked around the dam for breathtaking views. The hotel itself was very clean and had a hotel-like feel, with a good-sized closet, clean bathrooms, free WiFi, TV, AC, and nice music in the patio. The food, coffee, and desserts were satisfying too, especially the flavorful lamb. I'd suggest staying more than one night. Madrid Paris, Buitrago is now on my list of Spain destinations. Thanks!

The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very local, with huge portions of meat that was rather overcooked, plus chips. The salad was excellent.
