If you run a youth group, Scouts, Juniors, or something similar, be careful. The hostel owners treated us terribly. My 7-year-old daughter went there last Saturday with our association and its counselors for the weekend. At 11 pm, the owners called us and told us to come get the children, accusing them of vandalism and delinquency. The counselors asked them to let the kids sleep there since it was already so late, but they refused. We had to take everyone home and lost the money we'd paid for the whole weekend. The issue was a sewage drain. The children had lifted its plastic cover and put five large stones into it. They told us the next day that the stones had been beside the drain, not on top of it. The cover could be lifted easily with two fingers, and there were other drains like it around the hostel. Five children aged six and seven ended up playing with sewage because the drain wasn't properly secured. We reported the unsafe conditions to the health department and consumer protection office. A plastic cover isn't enough, it should at least be iron, and ideally have a padlock or security lock. The owners blamed our counselors for not watching closely enough. I think counselors expect a youth hostel to be safe for children, but this one isn't. The woman who said she'd set everything up out of love for children should be ashamed. Children explore. If you don't want them getting into mischief, keep the facilities in proper condition and secure them. They're children, they're active and curious, and if you can't handle the odd harmless prank, perhaps a retirement home would suit you better, since people there move around less.
We didn't get home until 3:00 AM. After the camp expelled our children and refused to give us a complaint form, we had to call the police. I wouldn't recommend this place for children, and I don't think its management knows how to deal with minors. They were shameless. My 6-year-old son had gone to camp on Saturday morning. At 11:00 PM, his counselors called to say the administration had decided to expel him and four other children his age because they'd lifted a manhole cover and thrown stones in. When we arrived, we learned the drain was full of sewage and the children had been playing in it, exposed to germs and disease. We tried to talk to the administration, but they were rude and said it was private property, so we couldn't even go in to collect our children. If a 6-year-old can open a sewage drain, the center should take responsibility. I find it outrageous to send six-year-olds away in the middle of the night without any consideration, especially when staff had noticed the incident on their rounds at 9:00 PM. Photos show what they called an act of vandalism, along with the condition of the drains.
The disco was the only activity my daughter enjoyed. The rest were really boring. The counselors also spoke inappropriately around the children, and one yelled at two 10-year-olds who said they were boyfriend and girlfriend, telling them to kiss. Another asked my daughter's friend for a Coke and a euro. I found the whole thing appalling. The cabanas were dirty and covered in cobwebs, and the food left a lot to be desired. I was also told over the phone that the pool was 1.75 meters at the deep end, which wasn't true. I don't understand the positive reviews, but I can believe the negative ones now. Think twice before going.
