Asador H.M. Versus

The staff were kind and welcoming, and our room was spacious. It’s a budget-friendly stop for people driving past Burgos. We had trouble finding it and drove past at first, so some signs to guide guests would help. There’s no secure on-site parking, the downstairs restaurant menu is limited, and the bedding felt a bit old-fashioned, with a throw instead of a duvet.

We stayed one night while travelling north and visiting Burgos, and found it decent value with friendly service. Rather than take two cars into the city, we caught the bus from the stop just outside. There’s free parking nearby. A loose skirting board and a curtain rail that was coming down could have hit someone in bed, so the room maintenance issues kept this from getting a higher score.

The restaurant is exquisite and I’d definitely recommend it. The hotel in Castañares is affordable, with clean, comfortable rooms and pretty good service. It’s a good base near Burgos, but you’ll need a car to get into the city.

My dog was happy here, and I’d definitely recommend the hotel. The staff were very good, the room spotless, and the food good. Its location worked well for the Alicante to Santander ferry.
