Hotel Centro Los Braseros

The bed and shower were nice, and the location was perfect, so it worked for one night. For a longer stay, though, it felt overpriced and I’d look elsewhere. The staff were nice, especially the two women handling a very busy breakfast hour.

After a wet day walking the Camino de Santiago, this was a good choice for an overnight stop at a reasonable price. The room was more spacious than I expected, and the shower and bathroom were very nice. The front desk service was professional and spot on. Burgos’ main attraction, the cathedral, is about a five-minute walk away. There are hundreds of restaurants and some bars just a few minutes from the hotel, and plenty of coffee shops and breakfast cafés to choose from in the morning.

Juani at reception gave such excellent service and information that this would otherwise have been a one-star review. The bed was badly worn and sloped to one side. There was no pressure in the shower, the bath handle was loose and unsafe to use, and the sink tap was loose with no plug.

This was one of my worst experiences in Spain. I booked a large bed but got two separate small beds instead. That part was okay, but the door key was broken and wouldn’t open the door when we arrived. It took half a day to fix. I needed to work, but the WiFi didn’t work either. They said they’d fix it, but nothing changed. The air conditioning also failed at night, making the room warmer than the municipal albergues. The reception workers barely spoke English, and the walls were so thin it felt like the neighbors were in our room. Breakfast was really bad too, with old, dry croissants and fruit so old it tasted alcoholic. Trust me, book another hotel.
