Hostal Francisco Salinas

It’s a small, clean, very basic place in an industrial area, with no nearby shops or restaurants. There’s no hotel parking, just street parking, and the receptionist didn’t speak any English. We stayed one night in December and drove about 10 minutes to the city centre. Finding a parking space there was a nightmare, but the visit was worth it. The city was incredibly busy and unexpectedly festive for Christmas, which I loved.

The only bright spot was the friendly staff in the morning. The hostel itself looks good, but the night was miserable. It was freezing, the heating and air-conditioning were both out, and there was no toilet paper until we asked. Our room had two double beds and two single beds, but I’d booked a double and only the singles were made up. We had to ask staff to sort it out so we could sleep with our baby, and it took half an hour. Breakfast was included, yet we had to eat at reception even though there’s a separate room for it. There wasn’t a high chair for babies either. I really wouldn’t recommend it.

We only needed a quick stopover, but this was the worst paid stay I’ve had. Noise came straight through the walls from the next room when they showered in the middle of the night. Honestly, we’d have been better off sleeping in the car. Don’t spend your money here.

The beds were awful, the place was dirty, and the fridge was filthy too. It was noisy enough to hear people showering, and you can even open the doors from outside. Avoid this hotel.
