Cabaña de Madera la Encina

The surroundings were lovely, and the cabin had everything we needed. The owner was attentive whenever anything came up. We’ll definitely return.

We’ve come back for a second year, and the cabins are still wonderful, with all the basics for a few days in nature. Their location makes it easy to explore the whole mountain range. We brought our dog, and it was lovely seeing him relax and enjoy the fenced area. This time we stayed in La Vega, a larger place with a pool, pretty views, and a pleasant feel. Last year we spent half our stay in La Encina, which is smaller but very intimate and incredible. The outdoor jacuzzi was relaxing, and the hammock among the trees was such a treat. Valentín and Toñi are lovely and always ready to help. Highly recommended, and we’ll be back.

The only tricky part was getting there: the track is uneven and sandy, with a fairly steep slope, so a low-clearance car could struggle. It’s also about a 45-minute drive from the mountains if you’re planning hikes in the Sierra de Cazorla. We still did the Río Borrosa trail, which was well worth it, even with the drive to its starting point. The cabin itself was very private and comfortable. Ours was about a five-minute walk from the pool and the other cabins. The garden was lovely, with thoughtful touches, and there was a wooden picnic-style table and benches on the porch, plus a barbecue and parking. Inside, it was cozy and had everything we needed. Valentín was friendly and let us check out later than usual. We had a fantastic weekend.

The only disappointment was the jacuzzi. It had cold water and seems to be for summer use, so the weather meant we couldn’t use it. Everything else made for a lovely break. The cabin was charming and comfortable, with a barbecue that was easy to light. We grilled local meat and, even though we went out to eat a couple of times, we really wanted to cook over the fire. It’s a great spot to switch off in nature, and you can bring your pet without any trouble. Mine loved running freely around the plot. The jacuzzi is on your own plot too.
