BG Tonga Tower Design Hotel & Suites

Thanks to the restaurant staff for being so kind, friendly, and attentive during our visit. Everyone at the hotel showed outstanding hospitality and support, going above and beyond to help with whatever we needed. A special thanks to Matias on the night shift, and to Evogeny and Julia, who helped arrange a better room and made our stay more comfortable. We truly enjoyed our vacation at this wonderful hotel and will remember it fondly.

Evgeni was a real treasure. He was so good with our kids, helped them sort out an issue in the arcade, and lent us beach umbrellas that we returned at the end of the holiday for someone else to use. He’s a wonderful person and a real asset to Tonga. The staff overall ranged from friendly to downright obnoxious. Our apartment suite worked perfectly for our family of four. It had a kitchenette, a divided bedroom area we could close off from the kids, and bathroom access from two sides so they could use it at night without waking us. The pool area was great, though the kids wished there were a slide or something like that. There were plenty of sunbeds, but to get one in the shade you had to be there at 8 a.m. The top pool beds were great but got very hot. The snack bar was brilliant, and the food in general was really nice. I’m taking off a star because there was no bar service after midnight, and they turned off the lights right on 12 even when you still had a drink. After getting back from dinner in town at 11:30, we fancied a nightcap, so that wasn’t ideal. People complain about the lifts, but we didn’t find them as bad as they say. Only the glass-sided lift goes to the Sky Bar on the 15th floor, so be ready to wait if you can’t manage the final flight of stairs. The town is a ten-minute walk away, and a taxi to Alcudia is about €17. We can’t comment on the kids club because we didn’t use it. Staff were absent during the day and didn’t try to get people involved. The evening entertainment was downright dreadful, though we weren’t too bothered since that wasn’t why we booked.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the whole hotel felt well organized. Staff in every department were warm and welcoming, especially at reception, where people were always helpful and professional. We were especially impressed by the restaurant. There was a fresh selection of dishes every evening, and the food stayed excellent throughout the day. The variety and freshness went beyond what we expected. We did have two letdowns. We picked a family-friendly hotel, but there were no children's activities during the Easter holiday period in April and May. And the rooftop jacuzzi water was colder than we expected, which made it less enjoyable. Even so, we had a great stay and would recommend the hotel.

Dinner was a real disappointment. The buffet selection was poor and crowded, with people bumping into each other. Pizzas sat cold and dry on an aluminium tower, and some types weren't replenished promptly. The pasta was just boiled with no sauce or taste; the fries were barely passable, the tomatoes were carelessly cut into big chunks, and the grilled fish had no seasoning. Fruit was barely ripe and tasteless, and the desserts were poor and ran short quickly. I asked for Fanta Orange and got lemon instead. Parking was scarce, so we left the car on the street. Lucky it was low season. The room key card stopped working a couple of hours after check-in, and I had to call Reception to get the door opened. The roof bar and jacuzzi were small and underwhelming, and the area felt uncared for and uninviting. The pool looks much better in the photos. The bed made a cracking noise as soon as I lay down, and I got up thinking something had broken. The TV was the smallest I've seen in a hotel room, and had a message saying the satellite license expired in two months. Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow. I may add more after that.
