We’re so grateful to Porto Cabana and the staff for looking after us last weekend. We’d spent the day visiting the countryside when we got a message from our hotel on Balarés beach: there had been a terrible fire in Ponteceso, and the roads back were closed. We couldn’t return and were worried about what would happen, but the owners quickly arranged a place for us to stay that night through Porto Cabana. Laura at reception was incredibly kind and thoughtful, tracking down phone chargers and bringing us anything we might need for the night and the morning. Our room was quiet and calm, and we managed to sleep through a very anxious night. We’re deeply grateful for the Galician hospitality and kindness. The fires must have affected the Porto Cabana staff even more than us, since we’d only lost a bit of our holiday, but they still took care of us. Thank you so much!!!

The apartment is spacious and clean, and there are a few facilities in the area, but otherwise it’s fairly ordinary. The TV is tiny, and the WiFi in the apartments is practically unusable. There is a WiFi room by reception, though the connection is painfully slow, so don’t count on getting much online. The reason I’m giving it five stars is the amazing view over the estuary. The sunsets are hard to beat, and the big windows and terrace make it easy to sit and take in the landscape for hours. I’d recommend it, as long as you know it isn’t a luxury place.
