Apartamentos GADIR CENTRO

Cristina was a fantastic host, replying quickly and doing her best to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The apartment has one spacious bedroom, an independent kitchen, laundry and all the toiletries you need. It was comfortable, spotless and had a minimalist modern feel. The rooftop is a lovely quiet place to unwind, and the elevator made getting around easy. The location is right in the heart of Cádiz, close to Mercado de Abastos, plazas, shops and city life, so we could get around on foot. We were a group of five. The outside noise was expected and didn’t bother us, but light sleepers may want earplugs. My only suggestion for the host is to leave more pillows in the closet. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were thin and I need more neck support. We had a memorable stay at Gadir Centro and will definitely return.

The location is great and the beds were comfortable, with plenty of light in the room. It was noisy, but that comes with being central, so we don’t count that against the place. Still, we were very disappointed. We booked directly for the good reviews, location and roof terrace, but the 10% discount wouldn’t work on their site. We chose a special bonus package and, after asking, got a bottle of cava and a Milka bar. The building smelled awful, possibly due to ongoing sewer problems, and there was construction we hadn’t been told about. There was dust and noise everywhere, and the roof terrace was closed, so we couldn’t use it. The owner’s reply was rude and hard to understand. When we said the shower was very dirty, he denied it and told us to look at the pictures. He also promised to put notices everywhere about the terrace closure, but we only saw a paper in the elevator, so people would find out only after booking. We wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

This was an awful experience, and I wouldn’t recommend the establishment to anyone who expects respectful, professional service. The manager was rude and acted like a know-it-all from the start. He questioned how many people were in our party even though we’d given the number when we called on arrival, and the rate charged matched our Booking.com reservation for that number. Cristina and the manager gave completely different explanations, leaving us confused. They tried to make us handle an issue that wasn’t our responsibility and contacted Booking.com only after we insisted they should. The owner kept saying he didn’t have time to talk because he had more than 60 apartments, as if that excused his tone and lack of respect. He seemed focused only on getting an extra payment, despite our booking being for six. In a reply to another guest’s review, they again got the number of guests wrong. That guest was travelling with us. It showed a lack of attention and poor management, and made the whole experience even worse.

Check-in through the app was easy and worked perfectly, and we appreciated being able to arrive early. My wife and I stayed a couple of days, and the apartment matched what was described on the website. It’s right in the heart of Cádiz on a busy street, so we could hear some street noise inside, but it didn’t bother us. A delightful stay.
