Casa Cánovas Boutique Hotel

We visited Cadiz in February, and it was a real highlight. The hotel’s location was perfect, and dinner at its restaurant was lovely. Our room was just right, with a wonderful balcony and a soaking tub that made for a magical evening. My husband and I loved staying here. We’d happily come back, and I highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel.

Carmen at the front desk was amazing, shared helpful local knowledge, and even sorted out a dinner reservation for us. The rooms are on the small side, but they were very clean and nicely done. The hotel is right in the heart of Cádiz old town, with parking not far away if you’re driving. We’d stay here again.

Getting here by car was easy enough through a few old town streets. We unloaded our things, then drove a little farther to the nearby underground public parking. The hotel is small, just ten rooms, but well kept, nicely decorated, and staffed by friendly people who were ready to help us find our way around the city. It’s in a quieter part of the old city, with walking access to all areas, so it made a great base away from the busy nightlife.

Definitely not worth the price. We paid a lot for a ground-floor room advertised with a private patio, but it was really just a little ventilation shaft. There was a strong sewage smell, and in the morning we found a cockroach. When we brought this up and asked for a lower price, the only offer was a coffee. A very disappointing stay.
