Soho Boutique Cadiz

The neighborhood wasn't the best part of Cadiz, with noise and a grim atmosphere that I put down to emerging drug problems. Building work started very early across the narrow alley, and street noise at night meant we couldn't sleep with the window open. I wish I'd known this beforehand. Inside, the hotel was clean, check-in was quick, and the staff were very friendly. I loved the rooftop pool, though there's no bar, and it's a three-star hotel. Breakfast was pretty basic. The room was warm.

The location was convenient, but the room was tiny, like an inside cruise ship cabin. We stayed three nights, and they skipped cleaning after the first night, when it was most needed because we'd been to the playa and tracked sand into the room. They did clean the next day, but barely vacuumed, and there was still sand in the bed. When I asked a man at the front desk for beach towels, he gave me some. The next day, a woman there said they don't offer towels. They also only provided one espresso pod for the Nespresso machine in a room for two. 🤔🤷‍♀️

The room price was higher than Booking.com had advertised, which was disappointing, but that's on them, not the hotel. The hotel upgraded us to a suite, and the bed was so comfortable. I had the best sleep. Our room was next to the elevator, yet it was completely quiet. Check-in felt very welcoming, and reception was really friendly. I'd definitely recommend the hotel!

We had to check out earlier than planned, and sorting that out was simple. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were good, and this little hotel is in a great location.
