Meliá Cala Galdana

We spent our honeymoon at the Meliá Cala Galdana and were blown away by the hotel and its beautiful setting. The spectacular views were all over the hotel, and being able to step straight out to the beach made the stay especially memorable. Our Level suite was nicer than we could have imagined, and the service was exceptional. A big thank you to all the staff, especially Laura at the Level reception desk, Esther from the bookmark painting experience, and the wonderful young woman who gave me the most relaxing lomi lomi massage I’ve ever had. Their conversation, recommendations and answers to all our questions made the experience even better. We’re excited to return for many anniversaries. muchas gracias!!

We stayed in the third week of August because my husband was offered a better price through his membership. We hadn’t realised it was a kid-friendly place, and the number of small children felt overwhelming at times. The hotel was extremely crowded too, with breakfast queues unless you arrived before 8am. The staff handled both situations well, kudos to them. What really bothered me was the toilet breaking. After I complained, nobody came for 24 hours, and it took another complaint to get someone there. It broke again only hours after being “fixed”. Since it was our last day, we didn’t ask for another repair and used the lobby toilet instead. At checkout, nothing was offered as a gesture. I’ve stayed in better 5-star hotels. Another review mentioned concerns about whether the hotel could handle its recent attempt to upgrade, and I understand those doubts now. The awesome location made up for some of it, and I suppose the extreme crowds didn’t help.

Staff, food and location were all perfect, and even at full capacity the hotel didn’t seem overcrowded. Fantastic stay, and I can’t think of anything it was missing. Sad to leave tomorrow. Would recommend 100%.

The hotel was spectacular, the food was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to meet guests’ needs and requests. The only reason I gave it four stars was the shortage of staff. For a hotel chain that big, there should be several employees working the bar, not just two bartenders who also had to take drinks to tables. While people were ordering at the bar, they had to leave to collect tables as well as serve and prepare drinks. I found that completely unacceptable.
