AluaSoul Hotel Carolina

The food was fantastic, with lots to choose from, and our room was cleaned very thoroughly each day. Edwin, who runs the entertainment, was second to none and made us feel at ease. Ana at reception was outstanding. She welcomed us as soon as we arrived in the lobby and upgraded our room. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the staff made the stay a pleasure. I’d certainly come back. This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

We swam in the sea most days, though one day the Lifeguard warned us there were Jellyfish. It’s just a few steps down to the beach from the pool, where there’s also a lifeguard station. The pool area has plenty of loungers and parasols, and you can borrow hotel towels with a fully refundable deposit. There’s a pool bar serving drinks and food all day, and we thought both the service and quality were excellent. Our fifth-floor room was spotless, with a lovely view over the beach and sea from the balcony, where there were two chairs and a table. We’d heard the rooms might be small, but ours was perfectly adequate: a super king-size bed, bedside tables, a chair, decent clothes storage, and a good-sized bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The two elevators were efficient and reached every floor. The restaurant impressed us with food prepared to a very high standard and enough variety for most people. The Chefs and waiting staff were first class. Staff throughout the hotel were welcoming and put us at ease, and check-in was easy. Aluasoul Carolina is a quiet hotel. There was entertainment every night, mostly very good, although we didn’t try the nightclub or rooftop bar. The only noise we noticed was from the refuse collectors working at night. We had a fabulous holiday celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. The journey from the airport is long, but we felt it was worth it. We loved our stay at AluaSoul Carolina and hope to return in the near future.

We went to every show and were surprised by how good the entertainment was. The hotel is modern, beautifully clean, and a relaxing spot by either the pool or the beach. We were upgraded, and the friendly staff, especially jesus and mary at the bar, made us feel welcome. The rooms are on the small side, but the beds are very comfortable and the sea views make up for it. Big thanks to the cleaning staff, who work hard to keep everything so clean. We’d definitely visit again. A few things could be better. The pool was freezing, so not many people used it. I’d have spent all my time in it if the water had been warmer. The food felt repetitive, and there seemed to be a lot of flies around, which put me off eating. They switched the aircon off on the 30th of September, and our room was too hot for us to sleep well for four nights.

The late October visit came with one downside: there wasn’t much sunshine on most balconies or in many other areas. I also wasn’t especially keen on the somewhat 'elitist' My Favorite Club arrangements, though I can see that many people might appreciate them. Otherwise, we found little to fault with the hotel or its staff. The bar staff in both bars were pleasant and diligent, and seemed happy in their work. Jesus, who often worked in the Lobby Bar, was exceptionally hardworking. We’d also see him working in the dining room and pool area, always moving quickly and with a happy smile. The food selection and quality were above average and better than we usually find at other hotels.
