Hotel Marivella

The hotel may have potential, but dealing with reception made for a frustrating, disappointing start and overshadowed the rest of my stay. The staff seemed untrained and unsure of basic check-in procedures and guest service, and their manner lacked courtesy and professionalism. I hope management improves their training in hospitality and communication.

The rooms are small but comfortable and very clean, and the staff are friendly. It’s about a 10 minutes drive from the city, with surveillance parking and a decent breakfast. For the price, it’s a really good deal.

The hotel was handy for the motorway and quiet, with a nice restaurant, good food, and a very pleasant pool area. Dinner and breakfast were good. Once we got a twin room, it made a great, well-priced stopover for a night or two. We’d forgotten to request twin beds, but managed to change rooms. The first room had some problems anyway: the air conditioning was noisy and blew directly onto the beds, so we couldn’t really use it at night, and the television didn’t work. We had booked a superior room, and I don’t think the first one was. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot.

Breakfast was excellent, the hotel was very clean, and the pool was a welcome relief in the heat. The room was far too small, though, and we both slept poorly. Children and adults were shouting and talking loudly until late, so the hotel was noisy.
