Hotel Lavida at Camiral, a Quinta do Lago Resort

Golf is a big part of the place, but there’s plenty beyond that, including wellness, sports and biking. Everyone working there was kind, professional and sincere. Adrian at concierge and Luis at breakfast stood out, though the whole team was wonderful. Such a great hidden gem.

Getting there was easy, about an hour outside Barcelona. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was really nice, and the staff were friendly and excellent. Camiral, Home to the Ryder Cup 2031 is a wonderful hotel. If you're planning to golf in Spain, the hotel and courses are a must.

Origin was the highlight of dinner, absolutely phenomenal. We also loved the breakfast, outdoor pool, and neatly kept grounds, and the staff were friendly. The Camiral Suite was spacious and elegant, with two rooms, beautiful design, a comfortable bed, big balcony and complimentary minibar drinks. Parking felt safe and secure, and nights were quiet, both important to us. This was our second stay, just an overnight stop while traveling between Switzerland and Spain. A couple of things didn't work for us: the Negronis took ages and weren't to our taste, and we couldn't use the spa without booking a massage or another treatment. Still, my husband and I were very happy here and will definitely return.

The breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant, housekeeping and pool staff were all lovely. The room service, though, fell short of what we expected at a five-star hotel. The beef was poor quality for its price, and the pasta had a really strong fish taste. The shower also wouldn't drain properly, so water spilled onto the bathroom floor. We booked because I had recently had major surgery and saw that the hotel offered a wellness and recovery package. Once we arrived, we found out it was fully booked and had to be reserved a week ahead. We understand August is busy, but since this was one of our main reasons for choosing the hotel, it would've helped to know that beforehand. If that's why you're booking, check availability first. For a five-star stay, it didn't meet our expectations.
