Apartamentos Neptuno Calella

The staff were kind and caring, and I was very pleased with our stay. Our two-bedroom apartment was spacious and had everything we needed, including a fridge, coffee machines, water boiler and cooking utensils. It was all clean, and the towels were changed halfway through the trip. Breakfast was plentiful, with lots of variety. The hotel is set in the old town, a two-minute walk from the cathedral and ten minutes from the train station, with trains to Girona or Barcelona. The beach takes 5-10 minutes on foot, though water shoes are needed to get into the water. There are three pools, but they’re small and seem more suitable for kids. The rooftop pool does have a great view over town. There’s a large natural park across the road, with a ten-minute climb to a nice viewpoint. Shops are there to visit too. I’d recommend the experience.

The rooftop pool was lovely, and using the push bikes was a bonus. We spent most of our time sitting outside, so the sofa bed being a little dated and uncomfortable didn’t bother us much. The terrace was worth every penny, especially since we used it each evening. There were beautiful flowers in the garden too. Definitely pay extra for the terrace.

The location was good, not far from the beach or main street, and the hotel itself was lovely. But we came as a group of ten in October and asked to have rooms together. We ended up as far apart as could be. The apartments were okay, though ours was noisy at night because it faced the street. The bathroom was dusty, and I honestly wondered if it had been cleaned before we arrived. At least we could use the washer and dryer in the garage. We had to make sure there was no rubbish left behind when we checked out, or we wouldn’t get our deposits back. That seemed petty. One receptionist was quite rude, and seemed ignorant if you weren’t German or Spanish. The buffet dinner we paid for one night wasn’t bad, but breakfast was awful. The entertainment wasn’t very good either. I wouldn’t return.

The location suited us, and the studio had enough space, a huge balcony and a kitchen. We had everything we needed in the apartment.
