Hotel Continental

I stayed there last night and came away pretty disappointed. The hotel’s name sets your expectations, but I’ve never had a room like that. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I won’t be back.

I didn’t feel safe as a tourist at this hotel, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I had a really nice stay. Everyone I met was polite and kind, and I liked the room a lot. It had basically double supplies of what I needed, including a spare bed, soap, towels, shampoo, toilet paper, and even an extra balcony chair, although I was traveling alone. The room seemed set up for two, so sharing it would make it good value compared with similar nearby places. Against hotels and hostels in Barcelona, it felt very worth visiting if you need somewhere to stay in Calella :)

We’d happily stay here again after a memorable two weeks in Calella. For a two-star hotel, it was pretty much what we expected. Our rooms were clean, and the cleaners, bar staff, receptionists on both shifts, and pool staff were all friendly and helpful where they could be. The roof pool is a lovely feature. The bartender was happy to mix drinks or fetch pool things for our excited, noisy kids. The night receptionist was an absolute delight, looking after guest security and sharing thoughtful insights about life in calella. There’s a huge choice of restaurants, gift and clothes shops, supermarkets, and little niknak places a stone’s throw away, more than we could get to in a fortnight. The beach is just as close, with a nearly perfect sea. We did have one disturbing moment in the water that reminded us of UK waters, but that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Thanks, Hotel Continental!
