Hotel El Paraiso

For EUR 70, I thought it was pretty good value. I paid 10 extra for a sea view, which also meant avoiding rooms facing the main road. There are several bars and small cafés within walking distance for dinner. It's a basic, no-frills hotel in a good spot facing the harbour. The room was spotless, the bath and shower were great, and the beds were comfortable.

The staff, Sebastian, Mari, and the night gentleman whose name I didn't get, greeted us every time as if welcoming us into their home. They were very friendly and available whenever we had questions or wanted recommendations. We brought about 20 friends to celebrate with us for a few days, and everyone commented on how great it was that we stayed here. We'll be back next summer. The hotel faces the water in the heart of Caleta de Vélez, about 35 minutes from the Málaga airport and easy to reach. A paved walking and cycling path runs for many kilometres in both directions along the beach. There are lots of great restaurants just a one to five minute walk away. We especially liked D'escart, just around the back of the hotel. For us, the town had just the right mix of a local Spanish coastal community and fun things for tourists. Although the hotel is listed as two stars, the rooms were really nice and had everything we needed. Our bed was firm and comfortable, and we slept well. We had a spectacular, unobstructed ocean view from our private balcony, so an ocean-view room is worth it. Our room was cleaned and made up perfectly every day.

Whenever the "Honky tonk cats" play at Camarote restaurante, I stay at this hotel. It's a great place in a perfect location, very clean, and the staff are cheerful and helpful. Bonnie and Clyde

A decent budget hotel. If you stay here, choose a beach-view room for a quieter stay.
