Gran Hotel Sol y Mar

We’ve just come back from four nights at Sol y Mar and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is spotless, the staff are caring and courteous, and the food was very good with an amazing choice. Our room was wonderful, with lovely little touches and super comfortable beds. Great location too, with two fabulous infinity pools and a lovely Beach Club. We’ll be back.

The sea views from floor to ceiling were breathtaking, and the pool was spotless. Staff were excellent, and the whole place had a really relaxed feel. Calpe was beautiful, but Gran Hotel Sol y Mar was the highlight. The best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

We’ve just finished our third stay at Sol Y Mar. We tried a city view room once and sea view rooms twice, and the sea views are definitely worth it. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and we couldn’t fault those sea view rooms. I could sit on the terrace all day looking out at the view. Breakfast is exceptional, with loads of choice and good quality food. We especially liked the omelette station and fresh orange juice. The hotel gym is spacious, with a bench press, dumbbells, strength machines, a cable machine and cardio equipment. There’s a supermarket below the hotel, and we enjoyed the spa circuit. The pool area must get busy in summer, but the beach is right there. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The location in Calpe is great, with excellent restaurants, bars and cafes nearby, plus a short uphill walk to the old town and a gorgeous promenade. You can also walk to Peñon de Ifach and hike up for amazing views of Calpe. The guests seemed mostly older, though it is an adults-only hotel, and that didn’t bother us. I’d highly recommend it.

My husband and I had a lovely stay, and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We arrived after midnight and were given welcome drinks and sandwiches since it was so late. The cocktails were high quality, and we used the gym too. Breakfast had lots of variety in both food and drinks. Guests also get a supermarket discount, and there are many free organized activities during the day. The rooms were clean, and you can refill the water bottle from stations in the halls. The beach is right beside the pool, which is a big plus, and there’s another pool with an amazing view.
