Hotel Gran Sol

This quiet hotel is tucked away in a suburb a little distance from Calpe’s busy streets, and has a nice view of the sea and Ifach. A lovely little find in an unexpected place. Prices are very reasonable, the food is good, and the service is friendly and excellent.

This family-run place has a lovely atmosphere, and you can tell both locals and guests enjoy it. I’ve recently moved to the area and have eaten here a couple of times. The menu has a good selection and everything I’ve tried has been tasty. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It’s definitely my favourite local place to eat.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, so this is about the restaurant and grounds. Louis, an American living in Spain, greeted us, and we ordered food and chatted about the USA. The meals were savory and well flavored, and we really enjoyed them. The grounds looked well kept, the views were fantastic, and the pool was very clean and well maintained. I took several photos of the grounds and our meals. We might stay here next time we’re in Calpe. The only downside is the location away from the city, so you’ll need a car if you stay.

Won’t be back. Two days later, I’m still suffering from acidity after their burger. They advertised a BBQ menu, but what they offered was ribs, a hamburger, hot dog and chicken wings. I’ve seen better BBQs in Mumbai street food.
