Villa Benicuco 4 - Plusholidays

We ended up at Benecuco after our original Calpe villa was cancelled at short notice, and Jet2 offered it as an alternative. There were six of us, although the villa can sleep 24. Plusholidays told us we couldn't pick up the keys before 5pm, so we spent three hours at a nearby bar and restaurant. It wasn't a major problem. We used the main upper part of the house. It had a big living space, a well-arranged kitchen, a main bathroom, and four bedrooms along a bright, long corridor, one with its own bathroom. Stairs at the end led to another double ensuite room in the rotunda. Everything was clean and fairly comfortable. Downstairs, there are three separate apartments. They were very clean too, though a bit old-fashioned and cave-like. They had air conditioning, so they might not have felt too hot or stuffy. The pool was clean and looked after, with a large terrace and around a dozen loungers. Even the shallow end is about five feet deep, so take care if you have young children who can't swim. The terrace also connects to an outdoor kitchen with two fridges, a huge cooker and barbecue, plus tables and chairs for 24. The villa is quiet and private, just off the main road into calpe. The nearest supermarket is about five minutes away. Toix restaurant is nearby, but we didn't go because it was often closed. It took about 15 minutes to walk down to the old town, with plenty of places to eat and drink. Another ten minutes past more bars gets you to the beach. In June it was wide, clean, and fairly quiet, with few loungers. A little tourist train runs a 45-minute trip along to the rock called Ifach. The house is clearly meant for big groups, including hen and stag parties or weddings, and some things showed signs of damage. Still, we had a great stay. The only real downside was the long uphill walk back from town in 30-degree heat. My grandkids jogged up, though!

A really good place for a vacation.
