The beachouse suite was filthy, with sand on the floor, and its view was the back of the bar. People at the bar could look straight into the room, so there was no privacy, and it was noisy. I asked to leave for a partial refund, but they refused. I moved out after the first night anyway and accepted losing the money because the accommodation was terrible. I booked the beachouse suite on Booking.com because its listing showed a beach and palms, but those photos were completely fake and that wasn't what I got. The back side isn't calm either, as it faces the main street of magaluf. Calling people looking into your room "vibrant energy" doesn't describe it. The hotel's unapologetic reply kept lying and made it seem like they were acting in bad faith. I paid extra for the "beachouse" and felt scammed. I'll never set foot in a Melia again, and I'll make sure as many people as possible hear about these "policies".

We couldn't reach the hotel front desk at all, since calling led to voicemail. When we complained that the number wasn't working, the agents sent us back to reservations, who then transferred us right back to voicemail. Getting through meant waiting on hold for over 20 minutes and being passed between reservation agents who didn't seem to care about doing their jobs.

The hotel was very mediocre apart from this issue: it made the surfboard riding sound as though it was free for guests, but it isn't. It costs about 30 euros an hour and can't be shared with another person. I chose the hotel specifically for that and was very disappointed. Parking is another extra charge at 20 euros per night, and poolside beds cost extra too.

We really enjoyed our stay. Getting fresh beach towels every day was handy for swims and trips to the beach, and housekeeping did a great job. Everyone on that team was friendly. Reception staff were kind and helpful, and the quiet room we'd asked for by email before arriving was exactly what we got. The room had a fantastic view and the location was convenient. We could get back from the beach through Hadley’s Club. It was noisy outdoors at night, but from the 5th floor we slept fine once the balcony door was shut. The furniture looked a bit dated, and we missed having a kettle, although the minibar was restocked each day. Breakfast leaned heavily toward traditional English options, and after four days it felt repetitive and short on variety. Our main complaint was the beds: two singles pushed together instead of a proper double.
