Hotel Playas del Rey

The staff were friendly, but I wish we'd stayed somewhere else because comfort and noise are a problem here. The walls are paper thin, every door slams shut, and the beds are rock solid. I nearly tripped on the step coming out of the bathroom too. Parking was difficult, with roadside parking or free parking about 500m away if you were lucky. Our sea view was barely there. If all you need is a room and shower, it does the job. If you want a comfortable stay with less noise, look elsewhere.

We stayed for a 2 night extension after a running holiday elsewhere on Mallorca island, and the value was fabulous. It's a great hotel, really close to the beach and restaurants, and the staff were great. Breakfast is served literally across the street, in a great spot with sea views.

The cleaners work hard and do a good job. That's about the only bright spot. The rooms are very tired, with chipped furniture and flaking paint, and the air con just blows warm air while making a noise like a train passing. We had to use the old method of keeping the balcony door open. There's a pool, but no bar or restaurant. As the Jet2 write-up says, breakfast is served across the road in a restaurant. They do a decent job, though the food could be warmer. There's no in-house room service, just a delivery bloke on a moped. No fridge in the room either, only a reception fridge with soda and water. The welcome pack isn't accurate. I asked about private parking at 10 euro a night and got a blank look, then was told maybe it was offered by the previous people running it. I parked in public parking down the street and someone tried to break in, leaving a crease in the door and bending the bumper. Reception staff weren't welcoming, and it was hard to get a hello that felt genuine. If you're in a wheelchair, stay away. The ramp to reception is scarier than the ones stunt riders use. As a hotel, it's fairly poor, no, a lot crap. A homeless shelter has more to offer. Jet2 says it's a 3star, but it's nowhere near. It felt like a massive cloud hung over the week. I had a lovely holiday in palma, but won't go near del Ray again. SORRY 😞

The hotel has no parking of its own, but there's a large free lot nearby, which was handy. It's in a great spot, just a short walk from the beach and local restaurants, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Playas del Rey is a fairly standard place with what you'd expect for a short stay. The rooms had noticeable humidity, and the smell of fried food seemed to linger. For a simple, budget-friendly stay in Santa Ponça, it does the job.
