A Mariña

The location is probably the one thing this hotel has going for it. The room was roomy, but the bathroom was dirty, with toilet paper stuck to the stained toilet brush. My husband's sheet had a very visible mark on it too. We were tired and it was late, so he let that go. There was a musty odor, which I dealt with by putting our clothes in bags, and the fried food smell in the hallway got into our clothes and even the frayed towels. The little gel packets were awkward to use and there was barely any soap; no shampoo either. We felt cheated by the meals. There was lots of meat, potatoes, and stews, some of which were okay, but not what we wanted in the heat, especially in a region known for seafood. On the last of the eight set meals, six dinners and two lunches, we got mussels, meat pie, and hake. Then, in an attempt to make a good impression, there was a cardboard box with a slot for tips and a “thank you very much” message. It felt absurd given the quality. My husband and I had read and shared the reviews, and the stay lived up to them. I blame Viajes Interrias, a travel agency based in Galicia, more than the hotel itself for putting us here. We paid the same as people staying in different, better hotels, and it's unbelievable that the Interrias group arranged this. The agency has already been told everything. I've never stayed somewhere where every aspect felt this poor, and I needed to get that off my chest.
