We went to celebrate our second anniversary, and the restaurant made it a memorable experience. The atmosphere was warm, the service excellent, and the food was marvelous. The delicate dishes and all the little treats they brought were much appreciated. I can say without hesitation that it’s Michelin level. Thank you, from a French couple.

The gentleman who took my drink order was attentive and polite, and seemed to be the only person showing much hospitality. That was the bright spot in an otherwise very underwhelming meal. I arrived alone around 15:45, knowing the kitchen was close to shutting, and asked politely if food was still being served. A woman answered bluntly, “What do you want?” She seemed annoyed, and I felt as if I was a bother for coming in. At a Michelin starred place, that’s a pretty poor welcome. I was given the tasting, à la carte, and wine menus. Since I knew it was late, I chose a simple à la carte lunch, “bogavante con patatas fritas y huevos”. The lobster was decent, flavourful and cooked okay. The fried egg was awful, as shown in the pictures, and the chips were soggy and greasy. The dish felt carelessly put together. The tablecloth was dirty, my cava glass was chipped, and the same woman tossed the cutlery onto the table and made no effort to be professional. Her visible hands had chipped nail polish too, which didn’t seem right for the front of house at a place with this reputation. I understand that serving someone near closing time can be awkward, but if food and service standards can’t be kept up until the last guest is served, perhaps they should stop taking customers at a certain time. Disappointing given the restaurant’s reputation.

The fish menu was enjoyable, especially the appetizers and tuna carpaccio. The main fish courses had good flavour, though they felt more rustic. We liked the lovely atmosphere and the setting by the marina. Service was good, but there wasn’t much wine to choose from by the glass. For the two of us, it came to 140 euro, including water and four glasses of wine.

All the plates were fresh and tasty, though the fideua with clams could have had more clams. It’s a classic style fish restaurant and an iconic place in Cambrils.

I always enjoy coming here when I visit my family. I’d love them to refresh the menu now and then, though, and add some new things this year.
