We were three people trekking the GR11 and stayed here for one night. The welcome was warm, our room was spacious and comfortable, and dinner was excellent. Breakfast was especially good too. Thanks!

Beget is a magical, very peaceful little village. Dani told us only 16 people live there full time; many of the other homes belong to city residents who come on weekends or holidays. There is a very small shop, though I'm not sure when it opens. The medieval streets are stone and very steep, so it's definitely not ADA accessible. The road into town is winding too, which may not suit you if you get dizzy, though cyclists might love it. We visited on April 16. There were just a couple of hikers and a bike tourer from South Africa staying at the hostal, and we saw only three other tables at the restaurant when we arrived. I don't know if it's busier in summer. We called that morning for a last-minute booking while following a medieval-town route that had started in Cadaques. Dani, the owner, was lovely on the phone. He hesitated when I mentioned my assistance dog because he thought it was a pet, but once I explained that the dog was working and not a “mascota,” he welcomed all of us warmly. We expected to arrive that evening, but reached the hostal just as the kitchen was about to close for lunch. Dani quickly set a table for four on the gorgeous terrace, with amazing views, and we ate like “reyes.” We'd booked half board, one meal plus breakfast, but when we asked to change to full board, two meals plus breakfast, he did so without hesitation. His wife cooks the food at home. The portions are big, the quality is great, and the menu includes a starter, main, dessert, bread, drink, and coffee. Everything was out of this world. Dani served us himself and was thoughtful and kind. He remembered hearing on the phone that morning that we were celebrating my dad's birthday, and surprised us after dinner with a little cake and a candle. We'd booked two rooms, but he offered us a whole apartment next to the restaurant, with the heating already on. It was super clean, with embroidered sheets and towels, extra blankets and pillows, windows all around with fantastic views, and a huge balcony overlooking the mountains and church. What a privilege!

We arrived late and found the hostel shut, but heard people talking in the kitchen. Someone came out with a key for their last available room and said we could sort out the paperwork over dinner. The person who handles check-ins wasn't there, so they suggested doing it in the morning. We had our meal and stayed the night. At breakfast, they didn't know who we were, and we hadn't paid anything. Incredible trust. I loved it. The place and food were good too, and if you have time, take a stroll along one of the trekking trails.

We spent four days at Hostal El Forn in Begét with our eight-year-old daughter. They moved us from a room to a large apartment at no extra cost, and the host was very friendly and helped with various things. We had half board, so ate at the restaurant every evening. The food was homemade, tasty, and very authentic, fitting the atmosphere nicely. Breakfast was generous too, and we didn't miss a thing. Begét is an extraordinarily beautiful old village, and cars aren't allowed inside. We enjoyed the atmosphere and did lots of hikes in the nearby mountains. We'll come back whenever we can!

One of the best meals we had on our Catalonia trip. It's a great place in a beautiful town, with amazing food and very friendly hosts.
